BAKING SODA (ALUMINUM-FREE)

What is it?

Also known as sodium bicarbonate, baking soda is a common household ingredient. The natural form that we use is mined directly from reservoirs of the mineral nahcolite.

Why do we use it?

Baking soda is an excellent odor-eliminator and bacteria-killer; the exact reasons that we use it in our deodorant! It kills the acidic bacteria that break down sweat and cause odor in the first place, keeping you odor-free.

What kind do we use?

We use all-natural, aluminum-free baking soda that is extracted by water, not chemicals!

DIATOMACEOUS EARTH (SENSITIVE ONLY)

What is it?

Diatomaceous earth is made of a type of fossilized algae known as diatoms, which consist mainly of silica. These fossils are extremely old and, lucky for us, have picked up lots of trace minerals along the way.

Why do we use it?

It effectively eliminates bacteria, but doesn't irritate sensitive skin like baking soda can. This is because diatomaceous earth is less alkaline than baking soda, keeping the pH of your skin closer to what it normally is. Therefore, it can keep bacteria away without causing painful irritation to your armpit.

What kind do we use?

Only pure and natural, food-grade, freshwater diatomaceous earth. It is also OMRI listed, meaning that is meets organic standards as a naturally occurring substance.

COCONUT OIL

What is it?

Coconut oil is made by pressing the meaty part of mature coconuts. Although it is more of a recent trend, tropical countries have used it for many years, as both a staple cooking ingredient and as nourishment for skin and hair.

Why do we use it?

It's an all-natural skin care must have! It's loaded with antioxidants, like vitamin E, that repair and nourish our skin, saturated fats that hydrate and protect our skin, and fatty acids, like lauric acid, that have potent antimicrobial properties.

What kind do we use?

Our coconut oil is extra virgin, organic, unrefined, and cold-pressed, meaning it is not heated, allowing it to retain its antioxidants and beneficial properties.

ARROWROOT POWDER

What is it?

Arrowroot powder is made by grinding and drying the roots of the arrowroot plant.

Why do we use it?

The powder is a delicate skin softener and moisturizer that removes excess oil from the skin. With it, our deodorant keeps your skin soft, while absorbing excess oils.

What kind do we use?

We use organic arrowroot powder that is washed, pulverized, and dried without the use of chemicals.

BEESWAX

What is it?

Beeswax is created in the salivary glands of honey bees. The bees secrete this wax to build their honeycombs. Beeswax has been used at least since the ancient Egyptians, who used it for everything from embalming to preserving writings to medical prescriptions.

Why do we use it?

For one, beeswax is a humectant, which means it helps retain water, keeping those pits happy and hydrated. And two, it keeps the deodorant solid, even on hot summer days.

What kind do we use?

Our beeswax is all-natural, unprocessed and raw. It does undergo filtering to remove unwanted debris, but that process is 100% chemical free and does not alter the beeswax. We source our beeswax from small farms that are committed to sustainable practices.

Shea Butter V3 .png

SHEA BUTTER

What is it?

Shea butter (Butyrospermum parkii) comes from the shea, or Karite, tree. The nuts of the shea fruit are ground and roasted into shea butter. Throughout the African Shea Belt, especially in the West African savanna, shea butter has been used for centuries for natural skin and hair care, with evidence showing that it has been farmed for at least 1000 years.

Why do we use it?

Shea butter, apart from being a super-moisturizer, boosts collagen production (which keeps your skin strong and discourages wrinkles) and aids in reducing inflammation. Lastly, it provides some protection against UV radiation (roughly SPF 6).

What kind do we use?

Our shea butter is raw, unrefined, and unbleached.

JOJOBA OIL

What is it?

Jojoba oil is actually a plant wax that is created by the seeds of the jojoba plant. However, it is liquid at room temperature, which is why it is typically referred to as an "oil".

Why do we use it?

Jojoba oil is the closest natural alternative to sebum (the oily substance our bodies secrete to keep our skin and hair moisturized). This means that it keeps our skin smooth and prevents it from drying out just as sebum does. Jojoba oil has high concentrations of vitamin E, to keep your skin healthy and young, and iodine, to further assist in fighting those smelly bacteria.

What kind do we use?

Our jojoba oil is an unrefined, organic, first-press, golden jojoba oil.

TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL

What is it?

Tea tree, or Melaleuca alternifolia, essential oil, is steam distilled from the leaves of the tea tree, which is a large shrub or small tree endemic to Australia.

Why do we use it?

it oil is an extremely effective antimicrobial agent, killing all kinds bacteria, fungi, viruses, parasites and other microbes. It not only ensures that your pits are stink-free (by killing those odor-causing bacteria), but also gently clears up the skin by removing blemishes and promoting healthy cells. You may just want to keep your own bottle at home!

What kind do we use?

We only use tea tree essential oil that is 3rd-party certified to be 100% pure and natural.
